| Crews were dispatched at 22:41 hours to 387 Pond Hill Mountain Road in the Pond Hill section of Conyngham Township for a reported fully involved barn fire. Engine 118 responded with a crew of four. Upon confirmation of a working fire, Chief 118 (McDaniels) requested the second alarm to be transmitted, bringing additional engines, tankers, and manpower to the scene. Slocum Township Engine was also requested to establish a fill site at nearby Lily Lake to support water supply operations. Engine 118 arrived on scene to find a large two-story barn with heavy fire showing throughout. Chief 118 established command and conducted a size-up of the approximately 2,268-square-foot structure, which was used for livestock and storage. Crews operated in a defensive mode, utilizing master streams and large-diameter handlines to bring the fire under control. The barn was a total loss; however, fire extension to nearby exposures was successfully prevented. No injuries were reported to civilians or firefighters. The scene was turned over to the property owner, and all units were cleared following an extensive overhaul and wet down of remaining hot spots. |
