At 0554 hours, the first alarm assignment was dispatched for a reported structure fire at 187 Pond Hill Mountain Road in the Pond Hill section of Conyngham Township. Ambulance 518 arrived first and reported smoke showing from the residence. Engine 218 arrived shortly thereafter and reported smoke and fire showing from the front of the structure. Engine 218 deployed a 2½-inch hoseline and initiated an exterior fire attack on the A–D corner.

Engine 118 arrived next, and crews advanced a 1¾-inch hoseline to Division 2 for interior fire attack. Personnel from Engine 118 placed a ground ladder to the front porch roof on the A side and began opening up the double-plank wall where the fire was located. The fire was quickly extinguished, and crews performed extensive overhaul, checking for extension into the attic area, adjoining rooms, walls, and ceilings. Hot spots were located and extinguished, and units remained on scene conducting overhaul operations.

The fire is believed to be electrical in nature, originating on the front porch roof in the A–D corner and extending across the porch roof into the second-floor bedroom wall. The American Red Cross was requested to assist three adults and two dogs displaced by the incident.
