While we are still several hours away from a potential significant winter weather event, the Mocanaqua Fire Company encourages residents and businesses to start preparing now and continue monitoring weather forecasts.

Winter storms can lead to power outages, loss of heat, communication disruptions, and limited access to food or medications if conditions last more than a day. A little preparation now can make a big difference.

🧰 BE PREPARED β€” HAVE THESE ITEMS READY:

Flashlights & extra batteries

Battery-powered NOAA Weather Radio or portable radio

Extra food & water (no cooking required)

Prescription medications

Baby supplies, if needed

First-aid supplies

Heating fuel (refuel early)

Safe emergency heat source

Fire extinguisher & working smoke alarms

Extra pet food & shelter for pets

⚠️ GENERATOR & HEATING SAFETY:

Never use generators indoors or in enclosed spaces

Ensure carbon monoxide detectors are working

Keep exterior vents clear of snow and debris

Home fires are more common in winter due to additional heating sources. Please review fire safety practices to protect your family.
