| Upon arrival, crews found no visible smoke or fire from the exterior. While investigating inside the building, firefighters detected an electrical burning odor and quickly located the source. The issue was traced to a leaking water heater that caused an electrical short and minor internal burning within the unit. Firefighters secured power to the equipment and confirmed there was no fire extension or remaining hazards. Store staff and management were notified and advised to have a licensed professional complete repairs before the unit is placed back into service. All outside resources were placed back in service by Command. Engine 118 was assisted on scene by Shickshinny EMS. Incident Outcome: Incidents like this highlight the importance of investigating early warning signs such as unusual odors or equipment malfunctions. We thank the employees on scene for quickly reporting the concern and helping ensure everyone’s safety. If you ever notice smoke, fire, or something that doesn’t seem right — call 9-1-1 immediately. |
