Crews were dispatched to Route 239 near Wapwallopen for a reported motor vehicle accident involving a vehicle into a utility pole with injuries.

Upon arrival, crews found a pickup truck with significant front-end damage following a collision with a utility pole. The impact damaged the pole and brought multiple communication lines down across the roadway and around the involved vehicle. One patient was located outside of the vehicle upon the fire department’s arrival.

Due to the damaged utility pole, downed communication lines, involved vehicle, and emergency personnel operating in the roadway, Route 239 was closed to traffic while crews worked to stabilize the incident.

Fire department personnel provided scene protection and traffic control, checked the vehicle and surrounding area for additional hazards, and performed fluid control and cleanup from fluids leaking from the vehicle. Crews also removed vehicle debris from the roadway as conditions permitted.

Mocanaqua Fire Company personnel remained on scene while the incident was stabilized and the appropriate agencies addressed the damaged pole and communication lines.

Once fire department operations were completed and the scene was turned over to the appropriate agencies, units cleared the incident and returned to service.
