| It is with great pride that the Mocanaqua Volunteer Fire Company announces the delivery of our “new to us” fire apparatus.
This pumper is a 2001 Pierce Saber, capable of carrying 6 personnel, holding 500 gallons of water, and pumping 1,500 gallons per minute. This piece most recently served the Nanticoke City Fire Department, and we are honored to give it a new home here in Mocanaqua.
This apparatus will replace our 1976 Hahn Pumper, which has faithfully served our company and community for many years. The Hahn began its service with the Palo Alto Fire Department in Schuylkill County before eventually making its way to Mocanaqua, where it continued its legacy of service.
We believe in being transparent and keeping the community we serve, along with all of our supporters, informed about the needs of our fire company. Your donations, support, and continued generosity help make important purchases like this possible and go directly toward much-needed apparatus, equipment, training, and improvements that allow us to better serve our community.
We truly cannot thank you enough.
While it is never easy to retire a piece of apparatus with that much history, age, and safety concerns, this replacement was necessary. This new apparatus is an important step forward for the safety of our members and the community we proudly serve.
Over the next few weeks, our members will be training, familiarizing themselves with the vehicle, and working to place the rig in service. We want to thank the Nanticoke City Fire Department and Nanticoke City leaders for working with us and helping make this possible.
