MFC announces the delivery of our “new to us” fire apparatus.

It is with great pride that the Mocanaqua Volunteer Fire Company announces the delivery of our “new to us” fire apparatus.
This pumper is a 2001 Pierce Saber, capable of carrying 6 personnel, holding 500 gallons of water, and pumping 1,500 gallons per minute. This piece most recently served the Nanticoke City Fire Department, and we are honored to give it a new home here in Mocanaqua.

Odor Investigation finds fuel leak
Mocanaqua Volunteer Fire Company, July 15
Crews were dispatched to Italy Street in Mocanaqua for an odor investigation inside the residence. Upon arrival, personnel detected an odor of heating oil and investigated the basement area.
Crews located a leak in the fuel supply hose between the heating oil storage tank and the boiler. Fuel oil had leaked onto the basement floor and surrounding materials near the heating unit.

Quick Response Contains Kitchen Trash Can Fire
Mocanaqua Volunteer Fire Company, July 12
This morning, Station 118 responded to Cragle Hill Road in Union Township for a reported structure fire. Upon arrival, crews encountered a smoke condition throughout the residence. Engine 118 crews located the source of the smoke to a fire in a kitchen trash can. The residence was ventilated, and crews were released by Hunlock Creek Fire Company.

Downed Wires Cause Brush Fire on Route 239

On July 3, 2026, Mocanaqua Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to Route 239 for a reported brush fire involving downed utility wires. The incident was reported after a tractor trailer pulled down overhead lines, causing a fire in the nearby brush.
Upon arrival, crews found an approximately half-acre brush fire with wires down in the area. A secondary spot fire was also located farther down the ... (Full Story & Photos)

EARLY MORNING MVC MOC-LEE ROAD

Early this morning, fire and EMS crews were dispatched for a report of a tree down in the roadway with a vehicle over the guardrail. Engine 118 arrived on scene along with Medic 95 and found a single vehicle had left the roadway and was on its side. The vehicle’s sole occupant had already exited the vehicle without assistance.
