Crews took advantage of today’s great weather to conduct valuable hands-on training focused on pump operations, hydrant skills, and ground monitor deployment.

Training like this is an essential part of maintaining readiness and ensuring our members are confident and capable when it counts most.

During the session, firefighters reviewed pump operations, learning how to properly set up and maintain water pressure, ensuring steady and safe water flow to attack lines during firefighting operations. They also practiced hydrant operations, working on efficient connection techniques, flow testing, and maintaining a continuous water supply from hydrants to the engine.

To round out the day, crews deployed and operated the department’s ground monitor — a portable, high-capacity water device used to deliver large volumes of water from a safe distance. This training helped reinforce setup procedures, stream placement, and safety considerations when using the monitor during large or defensive fires.

This hands-on session not only sharpened critical operational skills but also strengthened teamwork, communication, and overall preparedness.
