| Mocanaqua Volunteer Fire Company crews were dispatched to Route 239 between Pond Hill Mountain Road and Ruckle Hill Road for a two-vehicle crash with injuries. While units were en route, Luzerne County 911 advised of additional reports indicating a female occupant was entrapped and semi-responsive. Due to the severity of the incident, the assignment was upgraded, bringing additional rescue resources from Reliance Fire Company and Slocum.
Medic 95 arrived on scene and confirmed the reported entrapment, requesting air medical to respond. Engine 118 arrived shortly after and crews immediately began stabilizing the vehicle and initiating extrication operations. Firefighters performed a dash lift to successfully free the trapped occupant.
Utility 118 was diverted from the crash scene to establish a landing zone at the Shickshinny EMS Building, with assistance from Hunlock Creek Fire Company, to support the incoming helicopter operations. |
